Overview

Seeking a highly-organized, strategic and execution-focused Director to support the Claim Legal Department. This role will serve as a trusted advisor, project leader and operational partner, helping drive strategic initiatives, manage cross-functional projects, and ensure alignment across the Claim Legal organization.



Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Risk Mitigation

    Partner with executive leadership to define and execute strategic priorities across Claim Litigation.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, reports, and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate quarterly planning, goal setting, and performance tracking.
  • Ensure claim legal processes align with global compliance requirements.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage high-impact projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocations; monitor progress and resolve issues proactively.
  • Coordinate across Claims, IT, Data and Analytics, and other departments to ensure seamless execution.

Operational Excellence

  • Document existing processes and develop strategic roadmaps for process transformation and technology enablement.
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies within Claim Legal.
  • Design and implement best practices including performance quality measures and approach.
  • Work with Claim Legal leadership to establish claim legal data strategy.

Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between the leadership team and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and follow-through.
  • Support vendor management, budgeting, and contract coordination as needed.
  • Develop training to ensure adoption of new processes and tools.
  • Partner with IT, analytics, compliance, operations and other departments to align Claim Legal initiatives with other business objectives.

Legal Technology and Vendor Management

  • Serve as business owner for legal technology (e.g. Lexis, Westlaw, Litify).
  • Create approach to optimize utilization of legal technology tools ensuring integration into workflow and cross-platform compatibility.
  • Work with supplier management to establish Claim Legal vendor management best practices including change management and deployment strategy for outside counsel.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Other advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in claim or legal operations, process management; property and casualty insurance preferred.
  • Experience building and executing with cross-functional teams in process improvement projects including technology, analytics components.
  • Facility translating business needs in complex environments into actionable solutions with measurable outcomes.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Embraces changes; invites feedback related to performance and deals constructively with criticism.
  • Demonstrated track record of earning and keeping the trust of clients and colleagues.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for operational excellence.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and focus on customers as shown though courage to pursue new and unprecedented opportunities and unique ways to reach goals.
  • Strong understanding of claims operations and analytics is a plus.

Preferred:

  • Expertise with business process mapping tools (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart) and project management tools.
  • Experience with claim litigation lifecycle.
  • Lean Six Sigma, PMP or similar certifications.
  • Experience with legal case management systems, e-billing platforms.

The expected salary range for this role is $120,500-$160,000/year.
