The Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE) is an entrepreneurial non-profit organization (501c3) housed in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The mission of MCEE is to equip Minnesotans with the economic and personal financial understanding needed to succeed in today's complex economy. MCEE accomplishes its mission by developing and delivering professional development courses and workshops for K-12 teachers, providing direct programs to K-12 students, and working with community organizations in personal finance education for adults in diverse populations. The responsibilities of this position consist of the management and strategic support for MCEE's programming, as well as design, management, and implementation of strategic projects for the long-term sustainability and operations of the organization. This position works in close consultation and collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) with the support of the Administrative Support Specialist to advance multiple initiatives for MCEE. Once program goals, strategies, and vision are established by the team and its governing board, this position has independent decision-making and problem-solving authority required to manage multiple projects with distinct stakeholders and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Management & Support (40%)

  • Manage the planning and delivery of MCEE programs and events for students, including evaluation and relevant administrative tasks.
  • Ensure program sponsors are appropriately recognized throughout the program cycle and at relevant events.
  • Implement and support the webinar/virtual continuing education program in collaboration with the team throughout the program year.
  • Assist Education Director(s) with the content development and delivery of all teacher professional development-related programming, including but not limited to, professional development courses and workshops.
  • Participate in new program/project design and development meetings so as to understand the need(s) the program/project is to address and how best to match the project with grant opportunities and to evaluate and report its results/impacts.
  • Write and distribute relevant press materials for programming.
  • Collaborate on on-going development, maintenance, and distribution of MCEE developed curricula in MN and elsewhere.
  • Oversee the program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of programming and identify areas for improvement, including: (i) analyzing participant data and recommending improvements for future applications, (ii) collaborating on the development of after-action reports and assisting in grant proposals as necessary.
  • Analyze program feedback and participation data to assist in program oversight and evaluation processes.
  • Develop quarterly reports on program impacts for board meetings
  • Represent MCEE to Education Specialists, vendors and external organizations for relevant programming and projects.

Strategic Projects (50%)

  • In collaboration with ED and board leadership, research and manage the development of MCEE strategic planning benchmarks and documents.
  • Evaluate and advise leadership on the strategic planning process and facilitate its progress and development to attain desired deliverables, e.g. timelines, funding projections, etc.
  • Implement, evaluate, and support the board governance retreat and other associated board development activities to ensure maximum impact and engagement among stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on the design and revision of MCEE curriculum projects, overseeing editorial, evaluation design, and communication roles as requested or necessary.
  • Design, manage, and implement processes to ensure cost-effective and functional renewals of MCEE structures and tools to meet evolving organizational needs and constraints, including, but not limited to, database and data storage protocols, communications platforms, program evaluation metrics, and board tools.
  • Direct and develop appropriate tools and resources to aid in leadership transitions within MCEE staff, board, and stakeholder relationships.

Workflow & Teamwork (10%)

  • Accepts, prioritizes, and completes assignments for a work group.
  • Coordinates work schedule and vacation time with other staff members to provide office coverage.
  • Attends professional development workshops as required by program needs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is expected (approximately five to seven times annually).
  • Other work-related duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • BA/BS degree in economics, business, nonprofit management, or related field plus at least 2 years of professional experience in nonprofit program management or a combination of education and related work experience to equal at least six years.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, G Suite, program evaluation software, and databases.

Preferred

  • Experience in K-12 personal finance and/or economics education and advocacy in a nonprofit setting.
  • Experience in nonprofit program management and board strategic projects and governance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, program facilitation, and board governance development.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
