Your Job Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our environmental team and enhance the compliance and stewardship capabilities of our Consumer Products Group (CPG) mills. This position is based on site at our Pennington, Alabama, mill, with potential support responsibilities for other CPG facilities. Successful candidates can expect to quickly assume expanded responsibilities and leadership roles as they demonstrate their skills and grow within the company. The Senior Environmental Engineer will work alongside a team of environmental professionals to drive environmental excellence through efficient, effective, and sustainable management systems. We are looking for a proactive individual with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively to help achieve our environmental goals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess strong analytical abilities, demonstrate sound decision-making, and have excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently. This role reports to the Facility Environmental Manager and involves close collaboration with mill, regional, and corporate environmental teams to deliver superior results. Compensation will be competitive and aligned with the candidate's experience. This role will be offered a sign-on bonus of $10,000 and is eligible for relocation to Alabama. With over 30,000 employees in more than 150 locations, we're committed to meeting customer needs with quality products and continuous innovation What You Will Do * Maintain and improve environmental management systems to ensure regulatory compliance across areas such as Air Permitting, TVOP, CEMS/COMS, Stack Testing, NPDES, Stormwater, Waste, Recycling, and more; specific duties vary by experience and mill needs. * Use subject matter expertise and strong communication skills to support operations in meeting compliance, pursuing environmental stewardship, and promoting disciplined, sustainable practices. * Leverage technology and best practices to systematically manage compliance obligations, enhancing program resilience, consistency, efficiency, and verifiability. * Plan and lead assessments of environmental programs to identify gaps and opportunities for performance improvement. * Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies. * Develop a deep understanding of mill processes, associated risks, and their impact on environmental performance. * Design and implement mobile inspection tools to support water and waste compliance requirements. * Participate in periodic "on call" rotations, providing environmental support and reviewing compliance outside regular business hours. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Environmental, or a related engineering or science. * Five (5+) or more years of environmental regulatory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. What Will Put You Ahead * Experience in environmental programs in a large manufacturing environment * Experience with air regulations (such as Title V, Greenhouse Gas, MACT, NSPS, and PSD) and experience with air program implementation and permitting. * Experience managing industrial wastewater treatment facilities and NPDES Programs * Experience with Hazardous/Universal Waste Management programs[SK1] * Pulp and paper process and regulatory knowledge * Experience analyzing process or environmental data trends * Experience with IOT devices and mobile inspection platforms * Experience leading environmental projects, teams, or programs in a manufacturing environment At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
