We are seeking a Senior Oracle DBA Engineer to join our Information Systems Operations Management team at Alcon in Fort Worth. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of enterprise-level Oracle databases that support Alcon's global operations. You'll lead initiatives to automate database processes, improve system reliability, and implement best practice. In this role a typical day will include:

• Administer and maintain Oracle databases with a focus on performance, security, and availability.

• Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle software and related infrastructure.

• Manage Oracle Multitenant architecture and support multiple pluggable databases (PDBs).

• Implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

• Monitor and manage Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) infrastructure for production environments.

• Develop and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for database operations and system automation.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure seamless integrations and compliance with organizational standards.

• Enforce and routinely update database security standards and protocols.

• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, database errors, and service disruptions.

• Participate in source code management and release processes related to database scripts and configurations.

• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior DBAs; lead project-based database initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

• 5 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent professional experience preferred.

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA), with strong expertise in Oracle databases, multitenant architecture, and data guard configurations.

• Experience managing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

• Proficiency with Unix/Linux scripting and automation.

• Solid understanding of backup and recovery techniques, including RMAN.

• Familiarity with DevOps tools and version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

• Leadership experience or prior involvement in mentoring/junior DBA support is a plus.
