Application Window Open date: November 6, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Nov 21, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Thursday, May 6, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Associate or Full Specialist - Winkler lab The Winkler Lab, located at the UCSF Parnassus campus, is seeking to recruit a qualified Associate or Full Specialist to join our highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary research team. The Winkler Lab investigates the fundamental basis of stroke, including the pathogenesis of brain vascular malformations and development of therapeutic strategies for blood-brain barrier delivery. The lab utilizes single-cell genomics, organoid and iPSC technologies, mouse modeling, and focused ultrasound, with the goal of developing precision-based approaches for brain vascular disorders. Ongoing research projects include: (1) identifying cellular drivers of brain vascular malformation pathogenesis; (2) understanding how molecular variations drive differences in disease progression; and (3) development of strategies to bypass the blood-brain barrier to deliver novel therapy. We work collaboratively with basic scientists, neurosurgeons, neurointerventionalists, pathologists, and computational biologists at the UCSF Parnassus campus. The Specialist will be a valued laboratory member, creating novel bioengineered stem cell platforms, assisting with grant preparation, and contributing to scientific manuscripts. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, a strong communicator, and be experienced with bioengineering, including 3D printing and stem cell biology.
