Broker I - Builder's Risk

As a Broker I on our National Commercial Builder's Risk Team within Aon's Construction & Infrastructure practice, you will provide essential support to senior brokers in delivering insurance solutions for property, transit, and testing exposures throughout the construction lifecycle. This highly transactional role is ideal for individuals starting their career in commercial insurance, offering mentorship, professional growth, and exposure to complex, high-value construction projects. You will collaborate closely with Account Executives, Originators, Account Specialists, and colleagues across the country, empowering results for clients through innovative and effective solutions.

This is a hybrid role that requires working onsite 3 days a week from a local Aon office. We are open to considering applications from candidates across the country.

What the day will look like
  • Assist Broker III and senior team members in the placement of Builder's Risk policies for commercial construction projects.
  • Support preparation of market submissions; coordinate submission materials with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Help review quotes and binders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis of project risks and contractual terms under supervision.
  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure coverage aligns with exposures as directed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support account strategies and insurance marketing activities.
  • Participate in client meetings and calls to provide timely, high-quality service and support.
  • Build relationships with insurance carriers through professional communication.
  • Stay informed on market trends and share relevant information with the team.
  • Ensure account data supports the integrity of company accounting and tracking systems.
  • Manage expenses related to assigned accounts.
  • Adhere to service management requirements (e.g., Transparency & Disclosure, Aon Compliance requirements, Client Promise Methodology).
  • Use Aon tools and implement processes to drive efficiency.
  • Proactively develop knowledge of Aon's services and seek to identify and develop relevant cross-sales opportunities.
  • Manage input to and follow-up on invoicing and receivables process for assigned clients, ensuring timely collections.

Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success:
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in commercial brokerage, customer service, or underwriting
  • Interest or exposure to Construction Property and Builder's Risk Insurance is a plus.
  • Experience working with commercial clients is preferable.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • CPCU/CIC designation is a plus.
  • Must maintain an active Property and Casualty insurance license, or be able to acquire one within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience.

  • Must have the willingness to obtain an active Property and Casualty license within four months of hire (90 days)

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $85,000 - $138,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of (Location). The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
