Help shape the future of mobility!

Imagine a world with zero vehicle accidents, zero vehicle emissions, and wireless vehicle connectivity all around us. Every day, we move closer to making that world a reality. Aptiv's passionate team of engineers and developers creates advanced safety systems, high-performance electrification solutions and data connectivity solutions so that automakers can bring advanced capabilities to more people around the globe. This is how we enable sustainable mobility and help to prevent accidents caused by human error.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Projection Android Auto Development & Integration Engineer to join our automotive infotainment team. The engineer will be responsible for integrating, debugging, and optimizing Android Auto (wired & wireless) projection on next-generation infotainment platforms. This role involves deep collaboration with OS/middleware, connectivity (USB, BT, Wi-Fi), audio, and HMI teams to ensure compliance with Google certification requirements and deliver seamless user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Android Auto Stack Integration

  • Integrate and configure Android Auto projection frameworks (wired via USB, wireless via Wi-Fi + BT) into infotainment systems (QNX, Linux, Android Automotive).

  • Enable seamless connectivity and handover flows (USB Wireless).

  • Adapt Android Auto frameworks to OEM-specific requirements (HMI integration, audio routing, network stack adaptation).

Development & Debugging

  • Debug Android Auto session establishment: device discovery, pairing, authentication, connectivity handover.

  • Analyze Android Auto logs (adb, logcat, projection debug logs) and network traces for troubleshooting.

  • Work with audio teams to ensure correct routing of Android Auto media, phone calls, and navigation prompts.

  • Optimize projection performance: startup time, video latency, frame drops, bandwidth utilization.

System Integration

  • Collaborate with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth engineers to resolve wireless Android Auto coexistence issues.

  • Ensure projection works smoothly across diverse Android smartphone ecosystems (Pixel, Samsung, OnePlus, etc.).

  • Integrate Android Auto with vehicle HMI (touchscreen, steering wheel buttons, rotary controllers, voice).

  • Work with telephony and networking teams to ensure compatibility with LTE/5G connectivity.

Certification & OEM Support

  • Support Google certification and compliance testing for Android Auto (wired & wireless).

  • Conduct pre-certification validation and resolve non-compliance issues.

  • Work with Google, chipset vendors (Qualcomm, etc.,), and suppliers for technical alignment.

  • Support during feature bring-up, system testing, and vehicle field validation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.

  • Experience: 4-8 years in projection or infotainment connectivity development, system integration, or debugging.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Android Auto architecture (wired & wireless).

  • Hands-on experience with USB (AOAP protocol), Wi-Fi (projection streaming), Bluetooth (handover/pairing).

  • Debugging tools: adb, logcat, Wireshark, protocol analyzers, QXDM/QCAT.

  • Experience with infotainment OS platforms (QNX, Linux, Android Automotive).

  • Audio integration knowledge: A2DP, HFP, navigation prompts, Google Assistant voice integration.

  • Familiarity with HMI integration and projection rendering pipelines.

  • Preferred Experience:

  • Automotive infotainment platforms (Qualcomm SA8155/SA8295 or any QC platform).

  • Certification workflows: Google Android Auto compliance testing.

  • Experience in wireless projection optimization (latency, video streaming, Wi[1]Fi Direct/P2P).

  • Exposure to coexistence handling (Wi-Fi + BT + LTE).

  • Familiarity with Android OS Bluetooth and networking stack internals.
