| Position Summary |
This position will serve as Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Director of the Center for Aging and Health. This position will have an Open Rank faculty appointment that will come with an at-will Division Chief secondary appointment. The Division Chief must be a leader in our robust academic practice and promote the development of expertise in research, medical education, complex clinical care, and quality and safety. The responsibilities of the Chief include a combination of administrative, clinical, research, and educational duties. We seek candidates who have a proven track record of productivity in basic and translational research, clinical research and/or clinical trials. Favored candidates will possess creativity, passion for academic leadership; superior communication and interpersonal skills and a clear demonstration of the qualities needed to manage a multifaceted academic division and center; and the ability to inspire confidence in their reasoning and decision-making.
The Chief reports directly to the Chair of Medicine and works collaboratively with division chiefs across the department, as well as with other senior leaders, to carry out the intertwined missions of the Department of Medicine and
UNC Health. Rank is dependent upon qualifications and experience. |

MD Degree |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Board certification in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Demonstrated leadership skills, excellent communication skills. |

| Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
