Job Title:IT Director - Data Programs Location:Lockport, LA Job Overview:The Director - Data Programs leads the strategy, governance, and use of data as a strategic asset across the Bollinger Shipyards' enterprise. This data leader ensures that design, manufacturing, supply chain, and operational data are accurate, secure, and optimally leveraged to drive digital transformation, efficiency, and innovation within the company's IT and engineering ecosystems. Key Responsibilities: Data Strategy & Governance * Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise data strategy aligned with business, IT, and engineering goals. * Establish and oversee data governance frameworks, policies, and standards for quality, ownership, and compliance. * Champion a data-driven culture, enabling leaders and engineers to make informed decisions based on reliable insights. * Define and manage the company's data architecture roadmap-including integration with ERP, PLM, MES, and CAD systems. Data Management & Architecture * Oversee data architecture design across ship design systems, IoT/SCADA, and production operations. * Manage data lifecycle processes-collection, storage, cleansing, classification, and archival. * Implement data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-based analytics platforms for enterprise use. * Ensure interoperability between engineering data (3D modeling, CAD/BIM), production data, and financial systems. Security & Compliance * Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT infrastructure teams to ensure data security and regulatory compliance (e.g., ITAR, NIST 800-171, GDPR if applicable). * Define policies for data access, encryption, and retention across on-premise and cloud systems. * Oversee vendor compliance for all third-party data systems and tools. Leadership & Collaboration * Lead a team of data engineers, data scientists, and data analytics associates. * Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and digital transformation teams to align data initiatives. * Serve as the executive liaison between IT and business functions regarding data strategy and analytics. * Present data insights and strategic recommendations to the executive board. Qualifications: * PhD / master's degree in data sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics. * 10-15+ years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, or leadership. Skills and Abilities: Skills & Competencies * Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and MDM. * Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud). * Understanding of IoT, digital twins, and Industry 4.0 technologies. * Excellent communication, change management, and cross-functional leadership skills. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Data accuracy and availability across business systems. * Compliance with data governance and security frameworks. * Business adoption rate of data analytics tools. * Reduction in time-to-insight for critical business and engineering decisions. * ROI of data-driven initiatives and predictive models.
