Your Job

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative packaging solutions that meet product requirements, optimize cost, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to deliver packaging that supports business objectives and enhances customer experience.

Our Optical Solutions team is rapidly growing and adding a Packaging Engineer to lead a new packaging capability out of our Hudson, WI office. This role will report to the Engineering Supervisor and work closely with the other Engineers and Designers across the team. What You Will Do

  • Design and develop packaging for new and existing products, ensuring functionality, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct material selection and testing to meet performance, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, and documentation in CAD systems.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source packaging materials and components, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Perform packaging validation and testing (drop, vibration, environmental) to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce packaging costs and improve efficiency.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly processes by providing packaging solutions that optimize workflow and minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and sustainability goals.
  • Troubleshoot packaging-related issues in production and field environments.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in packaging design and development, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Proficiency in ArtiosCAD
  • Knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, corrugate, foams) and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ISTA and other packaging test standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with sustainable packaging initiatives.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for packaging in relevant markets.
  • Project management experience.
