Nutritionist

Job Description

Performs nutritional activities of the department. Coordinates educational needs for program development and creation of training materials. Performs patient assessments and counseling, as needed.

Job Responsibility

• Develops program policies and guidelines and develops patient educational materials.
• Evaluates program outcomes and developing annual program goals.
• Identifies high risk nutritional status; follows up on findings; interprets records statistics for population.
• Provides nutritional counseling to women with diabetes pre-conception, antepartum and postpartum.
• Assesses nutritional and educational needs of patient's being sensitive to cultural differences, preferences and educational barriers.
• Documents nutrition information discussed, written materials provided and evaluation of patient's receptiveness and comprehension of the education provided.

Job Qualification

Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Current Registered Dietician Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed.1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
