Job Summary

This position is for Fall 2026. Implements, manages, and instructs a diverse student population in both Manufacturing and Drafting programs using innovative, industry-aligned teaching and learning methods. Teaches courses across CNC-Computer Numerical Control machining, CAD-Computer-Aided Design drafting (drafting, GD&T-Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and related technologies); advises students, maintains academic support hours, and supports registration and program pathways. Develops and delivers curriculum through traditional, hybrid, and hands-on laboratory instruction while maintaining professional competence and ensuring safe, well-equipped learning environments. Collaborates with division leadership to plan budgets, maintain and upgrade laboratory equipment, and procure supplies. Builds and sustains strong partnerships with local industries, high schools, and community colleges to support internships, recruitment, graduate placement, and advisory committee engagement.

Essential Functions

Facilitates and instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and laboratory settings across Manufacturing and Drafting disciplines; develops written syllabi, course outlines, and instructional materials for CNC machining, CAD drafting, GD&T, blueprint reading, and related coursework. Evaluates student learning, monitors academic progress, prepares and grades exams/assignments, and maintains safe, well-equipped manufacturing and drafting labs in accordance with OSHA standards. Performs basic maintenance on equipment or coordinates repairs for CNC machines, manual machines, measurement tools, and computer workstations.

Promotes the Manufacturing and Drafting programs and recruits students through outreach events, dual enrollment partnerships, advisory boards, and industry engagement. Supports, mentors, and educates faculty regarding curriculum updates, instructional methods, software changes, and program developments.

Maintains professional competence by remaining current with emerging trends in advanced manufacturing, multi-axis machining, CAD/CAM software, drafting standards, GD&T, and instructional best practices. Participates in professional development through conferences, courses, certifications, seminars, and workshops.

Maintains academic support hours to assist, mentor, and advise new, prospective, and continuing students on coursework, program pathways, internships, and career opportunities.

Participates in the academic life of the college by serving on campus and district committees, contributing to program review, supporting accreditation efforts, collaborating with industry advisory boards, and assisting with curriculum development and assessment.

Minimum Qualifications

The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR

Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher OR

A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR

A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR

A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field (Upper-division courses are Junior and Senior level courses in obtaining a Bachelor's degree)

Desired Qualifications

A. Previous teaching or training experience (5+ years preferred) at a university, community college, technical institute, or industry training center.
B. Industrial experience (5+ years preferred) in advanced manufacturing and drafting, including CNC machining operations, fixture design, tooling and workholding development, creating operation sketches, and applying drafting principles in a production environment.
C. Experience using manufacturing equipment and software, including Mastercam (preferred), knowledge of G & M codes, operation of Haas 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers and Y-axis live-tool turning centers, manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses), and proficiency with metrology tools such as Mitutoyo CMMs, vision systems, and optical comparators.
D. Experience in mechanical drafting using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD; strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, ANSI drafting standards, 3D modeling, and familiarity with 3D printing and slicing software.
E. Possession of relevant industry-recognized certifications (e.g., NIMS Machining/CAM, Mastercam Certification, SolidWorks CSWA/CSWP) or evidence of progress toward obtaining such certifications.

Special Working Conditions

Work Schedule Varies, may be required to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights. May be required to lift or carry up to 50lbs. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals.

Local travel to multiple colleges and area high schools is required. Local travel to various MCCCD campuses is required. Remote travel may be required for training or seminars.

Employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving.

MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.

Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
