Overview

This position will define and formalize the services currently provided within the philanthropic and charitable business within the Bank and create a process, quality review and standardized output around it. Will extend the philanthropic and charitable reach to better serve individual and institutional needs, increase training for associates, and build a sales and marketing strategy for services and incorporate quality controls. Develop a client experience that aligns with the overall experience within Wealth Management. Serve as the ambassador for philanthropic and charitable planning both within the Bank and with outside centers of influence to build First Citizens Wealth Management's brand as a resource for nonprofits and individuals with philanthropic needs.


Responsibilities

  • Administrative - Create a framework that incorporates a documented and replicable process for advisory services provided within a user experience that equates to and aligns with the overall Wealth Management client experience.
  • Consulting - Develops products for current charitable and philanthropic needs and that anticipate future developments or evolving needs. Serve as philanthropic strategist on the client relationship team for sales and service associates who interact with clients that have philanthropic and charitable needs. Provides advisory - analysis, discovery, discussion, output, decision-making, and implementation - support to such clients. Establishes and maintains strong relationships within centers of influence. Identifies relationships with service providers who offer cost-efficient ways to enhance or expand current products.
  • Philanthropic Expertise - Maintains a strong knowledge of the Bank's existing products and services to market the appropriate offering for each client's needs. Develop products and advisory output regarding services such as grant applications, capital campaign construction, endowment construction, review of governance documents for charitable organizations, board development, fiduciary duty education, policy development, donor education and planned giving, private foundations, and personal charitable planning such as donor advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, etc.
  • Education & Training - Provides education and training to peer associates in charitable giving techniques, client identification, specialized accounting methods, and administration relative to fiduciary and agency capacities. Gives presentations at client events to increase awareness of FCB capabilities. Writes marketing material regarding thought leadership for philanthropic and charitable ideas and changes for both internal and external consumption.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Nonprofit Administration or Fiduciary/Agency Administration of nonprofit relationships OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Nonprofit Administration or Fiduciary/Agency Administration of nonprofit relationships

Preferred Area of Study: Charitable Planning or Trust Management, Nonprofit Management

Preferred Area of Experience: Philanthropic Planning, Financial Planning or Trust & Estate Planning or Tax-Exempt Planning

License or Certification Type: Juris Doctor (JD), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualifying designation, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP), Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA)

PreferredSkill(s): Blend of abilities to develop and manage administrative and technical systems while also implementing innovative product development, Passion for serving nonprofit clients, both Institutional and Personal, Ability to educate, coach and train regarding charitable planning, strategies, and processes
