Henry Ford Health is building the future of pharmacy services, and we are seeking an accomplished executive leader to help lead that transformation. The Associate Vice President, Enterprise Outpatient & Mail Order Pharmacy will provide strategic and operational leadership across our outpatient, mail-order services, specialty, and community pharmacy operations, PACE, long-term care and community pharmacy services within the High Value Pharmacy Enterprise (HVPE). This executive will be accountable for performance, growth, and innovation while ensuring safe, high-quality, and patient-focused care at scale. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape enterprise pharmacy services within a leading integrated health system. The AVP Enterprise Outpatient & Mail Order Pharmacy oversees performance, executes growth strategies and innovation in pharmacy service models, and is accountable for patient-centered, high-quality care. Serving as a key member of the HVPE, the AVP Enterprise Outpatient & Mail Order Pharmacy partners across HFHS, HVPE leadership, and externally with payers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to advance the mission of creating value, improving outcomes, and expanding access through innovative pharmacy solutions. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Operational Management
- Oversees daily operations of mail, community, and specialty pharmacy services to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery.
- Manages directors and managers, holding them accountable for staffing effectiveness, site performance, and adherence to policies.
- Designs and standardizes workflows to optimize productivity, patient access, and consistency across all service lines.
2. Business Performance
- Holds accountability for budgets and business performance across mail, community, and specialty pharmacy services.
- Monitors key indicators such as prescription accuracy, turnaround times, and patient satisfaction.
- Analyzes trends to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and overall improvement and, utilizing these findings, leads initiatives to optimize.
- Ensures performance results are regularly tracked, reported, and used to drive continuous improvement.
3. People and Culture
- Establishes a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence.
- Upholds standards of safety, collaboration, and inclusion while reinforcing engagement, resilience, and continuous improvement.
- Coaches directors and managers to strengthen leadership capacity and ensure succession readiness.
4. Patient Experience
- Ensures safe, timely, and patient-centered care across all locations.
- Establishes and monitors standards for satisfaction, accessibility, and equity, holding teams accountable for performance.
- Uses patient feedback and outcome data to drive service improvements and strengthen care coordination.
5. Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensures adherence to all federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Oversees quality programs focused on safety, accuracy, and audit readiness.
- Works with compliance teams to maintain inspection readiness and embeds a culture of accountability for regulatory excellence.
6. Collaboration, Integration and Innovation
- Aligns service-line operations with HVPE's enterprise strategy through close coordination with Pharmacy Operations Executive (New).
- Partners with HVPE shared services to integrate community, mail, and specialty services into the broader care model.
- Collaborates to implement technology solutions and process improvements to streamline operations.
- Represents assigned services in HVPE committees and projects, ensuring local execution advances priorities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's in pharmacy required. Doctorate preferred.
- Ability to practice as a registered pharmacist required.
- Master's degree in operations, business administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy operations, with at least five (5) years at a senior leadership level (system or enterprise-wide).
- Proven success leading multi-site pharmacy businesses with P&L accountability and revenue growth responsibilities.
- Deep knowledge of specialty pharmacy, mail-order operations, payer contracting, and the regulatory environment.
- Prior leadership experience in an integrated health system or large health enterprise, preferred.
- Demonstrated success in scaling new pharmacy ventures or enterprises, preferred.
- Ability to lead large, diverse teams and manage change effectively.
