Determines department objectives in accordance with overall strategic plan. Erroneous decisions or failure to adhere to objectives results in additional costs and serious delays in overall schedules.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $144,200 - $350,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF Stanyan Hospital is one of the UCSF West Bay Community Hospital campuses, located near Golden Gate Park. Stanyan serves a diverse patient population, including a significant cohort of older adults, as well as patients and families representing the many languages and cultural backgrounds of San Francisco. This position supports the Care Coordination department staff with developing safe, comprehensive and appropriate disposition plans across the entire Hospital Medicine service and in the Critical Care environments, including the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, as well.

Required Qualifications


  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with 3 years progressive expertise in case mangement, discharge planning, home care and / or managed care and complex case management.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff at all levels, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
  • Solid competency in financial aspects of healthcare management, blended with an understanding of the ethical, medical, and quality of care issues of case management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills for dealing with patients, families, advocates, and other medical personnel, as well as subordinate staff.
  • Strong skills in critical thinking and problem-solving. Ability to interpret reports and develop new policies, strategies, and implementation plans to improve all aspects of case management department function.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
