What to Expect
We are seeking a talented Controls Engineer for our site facilities team at Tesla Giga Texas with a focus on data center systems initially but eventually integrate with larger site shops offering career growth opportunities in the Teslaverse for the chosen candidate. This role will support commissioning, startup, operations, and maintenance of facilities systems on site. Come and join us to help accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

What You'll Do
  • Developing HMI and SCADA screens and optimize data exchange with PLC based systems
  • Architecting tools for automation of development and deployment of PLC based monitoring systems
  • Supporting a team to develop high efficiency alarm rationalization techniques
  • Taking part and supporting the commissioning of HMI and SCADA designs
  • Providing on call support for system outages and failover incidents
  • Creating design standards to optimize and improve factory end user experience
  • Participating in development of scalable network architectures
  • Training the other engineering teams and users to be able to support and use the designs

What You'll Bring
  • 2-4 years of experience as a hands-on SCADA & HMI Design Engineer
  • Advanced proficiency in Ignition SCADA design (Vision and Perspective), and modern High-Performance Graphics
  • Advanced proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, Java, C, VB) and database systems (MSSQL, MySQL, Access)
  • Ability to interact with controls networks protocols including, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus. Gold or Core Ignition Certification. Knowledge of Siemens SCADA and HMI
  • Ability to create custom graphics using Photoshop etc., knowledge in Siemens PLC programming, ability to understand PI&D documentation, knowledge of MES
  • Ability to understand digital logic concepts/languages SCL, Graph, Ladder, FB, data acquisition, and PID control. Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery and proficiency programming and tuning variable frequency drives
  • Proficiency selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, transmitters, safety hardware, PLC hardware remote I/O, VFDs and instrumentation
  • Exposure to a wide variety of production systems and machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (Level, temperature and pressure transducers, current and power meters, etc.)
