The Transit and Rail Practice is seeking a Transportation Project Manager in our Puget Sound Region.

In this role, you will support our Transit and Rail group and contribute to a variety of transportation projects. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with strong project management skills to bring concept designs and lead their transformation into construction-ready plans and technical specifications.

The successful candidate will work in a project management role on multidisciplinary transportation and transit projects. This position involves supporting project delivery through task and project management.

You will have the opportunity to work on light rail, bus rapid transit, streetcar, corridor improvements, utility coordination and design, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and stations. The role requires experience with project management, change management, staff oversight, and other elements of project management for planning, design, and construction projects.

The ideal candidate is eager to take on new challenges, grow technically and professionally, and is committed to delivering high-quality work. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with an interest in applying project management skills such as coordination, schedule and budget tracking, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

DEA's Transit and Rail team supports local transit agencies and remotely contributes to national transit markets. Our projects include light rail and freight rail track design, streetcars, commuter rail, bus rapid transit (BRT), express bus systems, transit stations, and other bus facilities. In addition to transit projects, you may assist other DEA groups on roadway projects, construction observation, and other multidisciplinary efforts.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and staff to coordinate project efforts.
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget project execution while maintaining industry-leading quality standards.
  • Participate in business development and client engagement activities.
  • Oversee design reviews across disciplines, including traffic, structures, stormwater, erosion control, and water systems.
  • Oversee identification of permitting needs and coordinate permit applications.
  • Manage projects and tasks, tracking project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Experience working with state and local agencies.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/InRoads, OpenRoads, and/or Civil3D design software.
  • Minimum of ten years of civil engineering experience related to transportation projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE License in the State of Washington
  • 15+ years of transportation project experience.
