CAREER ADVISOR:Interaction with young adults, ages 17 - 24 inclusive, promoting career-decision-making; development of career/employment plans; placement into subsidized training/work experience activities; assisting with employment acquisition; and other duties as described below.

LOCATION:Physical office withinPA CareerLinkLackawanna County, 135 Franklin Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503 Hours: 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.; Monday through Friday

Job Description
  • Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with young adults to aid ineliminatingchallenges that are hindrances to obtaining andretainingemployment. Thisincludes:assessment, individualizedattentionand coordination

  • Prepares, organizes, and maintains accurate, updated information in both electronic and paper participant files reflecting the entire history of a program participant including log of supportive services issued

  • Provides case management with a focus on helping customers to prepare for employment that leads to self-sufficiency

  • Provide consistent and comprehensive case management and follow-up

  • Conduct client orientation /on-Boarding-

  • Work with local training providers and/or placement sites to ensure appropriate documentation is completed and received

  • Facilitate professional development workshops as assigned

  • Maintain organized database of clients and keep detailed documentation (case records)of all contacts with clients.

  • Ensure participants follow through with planned activities as outlined in developed Individual Employment Plan

  • Provide individualizedassessmentof work.

  • Provide referrals toappropriate communityservice or social service agencies when needed

  • Accurately complete required documentation for enrollment

  • Create solutions to participant attendance problems

  • Assistin the preparation of project reports as needed (participation, placement)

  • Work collaboratively as part of the business services team toidentifywhich jobs are available, what qualifications are needed, and which workshops andtrainingscan best prepare jobseekers for these positions

  • Participate in activities including training, capacity building, and professional development - Work with leadership toidentifyoperational challenges and to design and implement process improvements

  • Provide operational support and coverage as needed/assigned

  • Provide operations support for all compliance driven standards

  • May be assigned other tasks and dutiesreasonably relatedto their job responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require
  • Proficiency with the useof MS Office and Google docs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
  • Demonstrated telephone, computer and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in environments with multiple stakeholders, frequent change, and diverse objectives
  • Professional understanding of a vast array of occupations and career paths
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, social services, and/or communications or experience commensurate with the position
  • Customer service experience required
  • Prior case management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Scranton, PA/Lackawanna County, PA community recommended
