Job Title: Patient Access Specialist - Call Center

Duration: Permanent position.

Location: Jupiter Florida

Pay range: $35,000 - $37,000/annum.



Job Summary
The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for delivering a dynamic and patient-focused customer experience. This role involves handling high-volume phone interactions, scheduling patient appointments, and ensuring accurate patient registration. The specialist works closely with clinical staff and other departments to facilitate access to hospital services while maintaining service excellence.


Key Responsibilities



  • Answer incoming calls and schedule patient appointments for the cancer institute
  • Obtain and verify demographic, insurance, and medical information
  • Perform insurance verification, data collection, and documentation
  • Determine medical necessity for services based on established medical criteria
  • Identify patient financial responsibilities and collect applicable payments
  • Act as a liaison between internal and external customers to facilitate access to hospital services
  • Secure all necessary documentation to register patient visits
  • Communicate effectively with patients in person and over the phone
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and interdepartmental teams
  • Multitask across computer programs while providing high-quality patient care
  • Ensure completeness of tasks and customer satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Qualifications



  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with hospital insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, and PPOs
  • Two to four years of healthcare experience in an outpatient setting
  • Call center and appointment scheduling experience
  • Front desk experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong customer service and phone communication skills
  • Knowledge of outpatient procedures and medical terminology
  • Familiarity with managed care plans and contractual terms
  • Knowledge of federal and third-party payor requirements
  • Excellent typing and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment when coordinating follow-ups
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
