JOB SUMMARY

Participate in screening individuals' medical histories and current health status to identify major health risk factors; administer stress testing procedures and counsel individuals regarding the use of exercise equipment; assist with preventice monitor scheduling and clearing onbase errors; Perform a wide variety tests; Assist with planning and implementing individual and group fitness programs. We are seeking an Exercise Physiologist for Duke Heath of Raleigh Clinic to provide direct patient care.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Conduct Cardiology treadmill stress testing independently as required and per study protocol with 12-lead EKG interpretation without direct physician supervision, in normal and high-risk populations. Must exhibit strong 12-lead ECG interpretation skills. Complete IV check off within 60 days. Accurately schedule monitors and help with cleaning up OnBase errors. Develop tip sheets for monitor errors.
  • Assist with oversight and daily operations of clinical and non- clinical programs. Participate in screening individuals' medical histories and current Health status to identify major health risk factors; administer stress testing procedures and counsel individuals regarding use of exercise equipment. Perform a wide variety of fitness assessments and/or non-invasive cardio stress tests according to work sit. Supervise exercise training sessions.
  • Assist manager with program compliance, benchmarking and performance improvement. Identify diagnostic stress lab needs; manages appropriate level of supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Assess the stress-testing environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, Joint commission, etc.).
  • Identify diagnostic stress lab needs; manages appropriate level of supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Prepares for JCAHO on a daily basis and cleans the room daily to ensure patient safety and walk through preparedness.
  • Recognizes symptom changes/signs of problems and knows the appropriate medical response and processes. Initiates first responder care.
  • Performs all Exercise Specialist duties and diagnostic testing independently as required by work site.
  • Maintain inventory for supplies needed in the Cardiac Diagnostic Unit. Identify diagnostic stress lab needs, manages appropriate level of supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Access the stress testing environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, Joint Commission etc,).
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.



JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS



  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science. Bachelor's degree plus ACSM-CEP accepted.
  • Minimum 1 yrs applicable experience
  • ACLS required (must obtain within 6 months of hire date); ACSM certification as Exercise Physiologist, Health Fitness instructor, Group Exercise Instructor, or Personal Trainer (must obtain within 6 months of hire date)
