Description

The Civitas Institute at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions in Humanities to begin in August 2026.

The Institute seeks to fill several tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor, to start in the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications are welcome from all relevant disciplines, including History, English and American Literature, Political Science (particularly the history of political thought), Classics, and Religion.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree.

Application Instructions

A complete application must include:



  1. a curriculum vitae;
  2. a cover letter, which addresses research agenda and teaching interests and competencies;
  3. a sample of scholarly writing within the last three years; and
  4. three letters of recommendation


Screening of applicants will begin on February 16, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.
