Job Summary

The Assistant Director is responsible for formulating policies, strategies, and systems that best advance the digital learner experience across key touch points from initial enrollment in FIU's 2.0 programs and across the active student timeframe through to graduation. Supports and drives training and quality assurance for both Prospective Learner Engagement and Coaching under the business unit's role as the institution's Online Program Experience (OPX) driver and collaborates closely with other divisions to continuously integrate best practices into scalable operations for FIU Online and the larger FIU institutional needs.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact with all student service units on all matters related to the administration and operation of these services as they pertain to students in online courses and programs.
  • Develops and implements projects, short term initiatives, long-term goals and strategic plans for FIU Online in support of success coaching and online student engagement initiatives.
  • Develops and guides the methods, operating standards, and performance measures for cultivating enrollment in online programs, enhancing persistence and retention for student success, and re-entry or re-enrollment where appropriate. .
  • Establishes standards and manages compliance for FIU Online Student Services, and makes recommendations to enhance all related processes.
  • Leads and manages the student complaint process in collaboration with other supporting units.
  • Prepares and delivers detailed reports on Online Student Services. Makes recommendations based on analysis of compiled data.
  • Monitors internal and external trends in online enrollments and online higher education to inform the ongoing development and continuous transformation of Success Coaching to support the digital learner experience.
  • Collaborates with other FIU Online functional areas including marketing, technology, data analytics, program management, business development, and finance & compliance to assure proper capacity planning, timelines and communication plan execution for coaching services.
  • Makes recommendations to the AVP, FIU Online & Digital Experience in the development of new student service initiatives or the enhancement of existing services to improve the overall success of online students.
  • Represents FIU Online and the university on various internal and external committees, commissions, agencies, seminars, and/or associations as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with FIU policies, procedures, practices and programs, and with federal, state and local legal/regulatory standards
  • Supervises and coaches professional and support staff, establishes goals, identifies professional development opportunities, and evaluates performance.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supervising and training employees.
