Description

Perform a variety of specialized and complex record keeping duties associated with processing and analyzing accounting transactions. Prepare and review a variety of ?nancial reports with a high degree of accuracy. Responsible for tracking and maintaining critical reporting deadlines. Initiate communication between stakeholders to ensure information reported is complete and accurate. With supervision, coordinate implementation of new systems and recommend process improvements.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Record, analyze and maintain federal, state and private Grants within the College financial system in accordance with project guidelines and established procedures. Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, reimbursement requests, and annual reports as required.
  2. In coordination with the Grants Office, review and monitor monthly grant expenditures for compliance, analyze spending, and resolve discrepancies. Assist with grant close out activities and maintain accurate financial records and documentation for annual audits.
  3. Process ?nancial aid disbursements bi-weekly in coordination with the Financial Aid Department. Monitor, reconcile, and maintain ?nancial aid account ledgers to include securing funds and processing transactions to ensure accurate reporting. Analyze, calculate and process amounts owed to WCTC for ?nancial aid disbursements.
  4. Maintain registers for all fixed assets including buildings, equipment, machinery, and vehicles. Based on established procedures, review and reconcile fixed asset activity, ensuring proper recording, capitalization and classifications. Record asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers within accounting software.
  5. Coordinate with departments to maintain accurate fixed asset records, including physical asset verification. Support audits and year-end financial reporting schedules.
  6. Prepare, analyze, and complete various account reconciliations as well as year-end audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  7. Assist with the College's annual budget process, including data summarization, entry, and analysis.
  8. Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Must be able to create and use complex Excel spreadsheets. Aptitude for data entry.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems
  • Ability to reconcile ?nancial documents/reports
  • Good critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work e?ectively with other sta?, management personnel, ?nancial institutions, other agencies and companies, and the general public
  • Highly competent for accuracy and detail
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain complicated procedures and regulations; to communicate e?ectively both orally and in writing; and to organize and schedule work priorities e?ectively
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Bachelors preferred.
  2. Three (3) years of work experience in the area of general accounting, reporting, fixed asset accounting and ?nancial analysis.

Supplemental Information

This position is a 40 hours per/week position.

Typical hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
