The UT Elevated program is seeking to hire an Academic Advisor as part of a five-year grant-funded position. This role will provide academic advising to students with intellectual disabilities as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary support team focused on individualized student success. The Academic Advisor will assist students with general education requirements and collaborate closely with program-specific and departmental advisors to support the selection of a major, minor, and/or degree pathway. The position is housed within the UT Elevated program in Student Affairs and includes dual reporting responsibilities to both Student Affairs and the Academic Advisement Office. *This is a grant funded position with guaranteed funding through 9/30/30, and is dependent on funding after that.

Responsibilities

- Advise students in general education, transfer, program, and graduation requirements in collaboration with program advisors.
- Assist with advisement/recruitment/orientation sessions.
- Participate in the UT Elevated program and National TPSID coordinating center meetings.
- Provide personalized academic advising and guidance to include customization of student schedules to meet their abilities and goals.
- Work collaboratively with UT Elevated team members, the Student Resource Center, and Accessibility and Disability Center to meet the student support requirements of the TPSID grant.
- Provide concierge student services acting as a liaison on behalf of the student.
- Participate in retention initiatives and campaigns under the direction of the Academic Advisement Center and the UT Elevated program.
- Attend professional development opportunities for advisement and serve on various university committees.
- Assist with commencement and convocation programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; master's degree preferred.
- Two years of advising or related experience required; higher education advisement experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with university stakeholders.
- Familiarity with college admissions guidelines, standards, and procedures, and higher education admissions counseling in general.
- Candidates should have experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), preferably within educational settings or in roles involving ADA accommodations and compliance.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $44,500 for Bachelor's degree-qualified candidate and $47,750 for Master's degree-qualified candidates. Desired start date of March/April 2026.
