Position Summary:

The Technical Support Representative (Clamps) for DESTACO is responsible for providing customer application assistance, technical support, proposal drawings, quotations and special designs or modifications to existing products via phone or email including inside/outside sales and customer service. He/she may also be required to support the system design group and product development for new products, product improvements & changes to existing products. He/she may evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.

The Technical Support Representative (Clamps) reports to the Manager, Applications Engineering. The position is located in Auburn Hills, MI USA. The position requires the ability to work globally and communicate virtually with Sales, Product Engineering, Customer Service, Marketing and Manufacturing.

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Promotes safety awareness with other members of the plant. Promotes accident prevention and employee involvement in regard to a safe work environment.
  • Provides customer application assistance and technical support for customer questions (by phone & email).
  • Provide application information to customers for the Manual Clamp Product line consisting of: Manual, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and associated accessories
  • Provides proposal drawings, quotations and special designs or modifications to existing products.
  • Generate bill of materials (BOM), and Oracle part numbers.
  • Supports customer service with technical support, applications review, and warranty issues.
  • May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Provides technical support through the use of C4C customer resource platform.
  • Provides input to New Product Development activities based on customer requests and feedback
  • Work with manufacturing team on product quality or scheduling issues that may arise

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area with mechanical design
  • Past experience within a technical customer support environment with daily customer interactions required
  • A design certificate or background in CAD is required with experience to utilize SolidWorks or CATIA
  • A mechanical aptitude for some minor light assembly or product investigations is required
  • Ability to read dimensioned manufacturing drawings. With an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Ability to manage large volumes of customer requests with possible overtime being required to resolve issues and clear request backlog

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required in a related field
