Overview

Waters Corporation is seeking a Weekend Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join our Chemical Engineering Team to support the engineering, productivity, and enhancement of our new state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing plant. In this role, you will develop deep technical expertise in our operations work on designing, implementing, and continuously improving our manufacturing processes and equipment.

NOTE: THIS IS A WEEKEND POSITION. The typical shift will be 12 hours per day FRI-SAT-SUN or SAT-SUN-MON, with on-call during the off-shift hours on those days.



Responsibilities

    Acquire in-depth knowledge of, and become a technical expert for, all processes throughout our manufacturing facility.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for the daily operation of the manufacturing plant, as well as during new equipment commissioning and startup, to ensure high product quality, safety, and minimal downtime.
  • Lead projects to improve, enhance, and expand capability of our manufacturing processes while minimizing waste. This includes retrieving and analyzing historical data from our manufacturing data repositories, which may involve creativity and outside-the-box thinking.
  • Work with the internal Tech Support group to transfer and scale up products from R&D into production.
  • Execute the commissioning, startup, and validation of chemical process equipment systems.
  • Work with Waters's contractors and subcontractors to ensure that equipment is installed safely, properly, and functions as required.
  • Develop and execute IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols, generate engineering turnover packages (ETOPs), and complete documentation for regulatory compliance (e.g. PSSRs, PHAs, P&IDs, SOPs, MOCs) as required.
  • Develop, review, modify, and approve specifications and drawings for process equipment, instrumentation, valves, and accessories, as well as P&IDs.
  • Any other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 4-7 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry with process development, troubleshooting & optimization, as well as with project management, is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with batch reaction chemistry, solids filtration, powder drying processes, handling of large quantities of acids and solvents, and distillation processes is a plus.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shift on FRIDAY-SATURDAY-SUNDAY and/or SATURDAY-SUNDAY-MONDAY and provide on-call support during the evenings on those days.
  • The candidate must be independent, motivated, flexible, a quick learner, and must exhibit methodical thinking to troubleshoot problems of moderate to high complexity.
  • The ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team and have good oral & written communications skills is required.
