Overview

As a Specialist, Materials Management at Alnylam, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuos, uninterrupted flow of raw materials to support both internal and external manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Materials Management, you will be tasked with maintaining strategies to optimize material planning, procurement, and inventory control, all while upholding the highest standards of quality and service.

This position is hybrid and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with CMC, Process Sciences, and/or manufacturing teams to develop materials plans for assigned materials.
  • Develop material forecasts (as needed).
  • Execute material planning and procurement activities based on manufacturing schedules and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) principles.
  • Set and maintain safety stock and replenishment strategies for production materials and consumables.
  • Maintain and update SAP master data entry as directed.
  • Monitor SAP transactions and business activities related to material management to ensure inventory accuracy and timely supply of raw materials.
  • Create and modify requisitions and purchase orders for direct materials.
  • Expedite open orders, and reconcile and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Manage and report on raw material inventory to minimize operational disruptions and exposure to excess and obsolete inventory (E&O).
  • Coordinate with Logistics Operations team and onsite facilities/warehouse teams to replenish materials from storage at External Warehouse locations.
  • Develop strong relationships with CMC, Process Sciences, Regulatory, Facilities, Clinical Operations, Clinical Supply, QA, Development, etc.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or science-related discipline or 2-4 years' experience in a Supply Chain Planning role, preferably in a Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain planning policies and procedures such as materials management, inventory controls, and process optimization.
  • Demonstration of analytical skills to effectively resolve material management issues and forecast inaccuracies.
  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, GMP principles, and new product introduction.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and handle both routine and non-routine responsibilities with attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and Data Analysis.
  • Relevant industry certifications are a plus (APICS CSCP/CPIM).

U.S. Pay Range

$86,200.00 - $116,600.00

The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
