What You Will Do:

Provides strategic leadership by:

  • Participating in the strategic direction and vision as a member of the Projects leadership team as well as that for the broader enterprise by providing input into the development, articulation and implementation of the vision, goals and objectives.

  • Conceptualizing, and overseeing strategic multi-year programs, projects and initiatives focused on integrating and using the enterprise's commercial, technical, operational, and intellectual capital.

  • Manage the risks associated with project development and ensure that effective and accurate information is provided to the Executive Leadership Team and Board, provide solutions and oversee the development of projects across the enterprise, ensure approved projects are effectively and efficiently transitioned to execution teams.

Provides operational leadership by:

  • Being responsible for the adaptation of Project Development strategies, programs and standards to business and operational realities enterprise-wide to ensure alignment between philosophies, goals, and outcomes.

  • Technical Functions such as construction standards, commissioning standards, commissioning delivery, quality management standards, quality management delivery.

  • Governance and Controls which includes project controls standards, project assurance standards, document management standards, and document management delivery.

  • Overseeing and managing approved operational and capital budgets for the department.

Provides people leadership by:

  • Resourcing/coaching/mentoring/motivating a team of +/-100 direct and indirect reports.

  • Providing coaching, guidance and advice to the Executive and Management teams enterprise-wide, e.g., frame issues, solve problems, advise on progress, solicit input, inspire, and influence.

Who You Are:

  • University degree or diploma in Commerce, Business, Engineering, or related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • 15 years of dynamically responsible and varied project development and management expertise. Preference for 10 years of Manager/Director level experience in sophisticated multi-jurisdictional operations, project, and field environments.

  • Outstanding analytical, financial, and business acumen.

  • Aptitude and communications skills related to leading and acting independently as a member of the Projects leadership team, coupled with outstanding negotiation, relationship building and influencing skills.

  • Strategic vision and the ability to analyze sophisticated situations and arrive at timely solutions.

  • Effective leadership skills which include attracting and retaining top talent, nurturing a collaborative, hard-working team-focused approach and inspire change in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

  • Valid passport to work and travel between Canada and the US.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment.

  • 25% of travel.

Physical Requirements (Office) include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
