Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Manager to be based out of Thomasville, GA. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this person will be responsible for planning and overseeing the work of the Maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operations for the entire facility.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.

What you'll do:



  • Oversee maintenance functions with a drive to eliminate repetitive issues by developing personnel and using metrics to help make decisions.
  • Minimize breakdowns or disruptions in the production processes by developing a preventative maintenance and inspection list and schedule
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing activities and promote the plant Lean culture
  • Coordinate and/or perform inspection of building and equipment as required by regulatory agencies
  • Be a leader in safety, and enforce company policy in regard to EH&S and Lean Initiatives
  • Create and adhere to departmental budgets
  • Lead maintenance transformation from a "break/fix" culture to a reliability-based maintenance culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned


What you'll bring:



  • 5 years of maintenance-related managerial experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in tubing/pipe environment or plastic/extrusion or similar heavy manufacturing environment, along with supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical skillset
  • General PLC programming knowledge
  • Understanding of basic machine shop tools as well as welding and metal fabrication
  • Familiar with electric code requirements
  • Experience with installation of machinery and equipment as well as dis-assembly
  • Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization
  • Effective leadership skills and problem-solving techniques
  • Adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete any required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Update training materials and procedures.
  • Partner with Safety and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries and production issues
  • Identify solutions to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellent


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore's strategy
  • Create and update reports, training materials and documentation
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports
  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely
