How you will make history here...

Under guidance and direction from the EH&S Manager, the EH&S Coordinator will:

  • Provide technical environmental, health, and safety support to production and plant personnel
  • Assist in the development of plant environmental, health, and safety and wellness programs and objectives
  • Coordinate environmental, health, and safety training programs
  • This individual will serve as the liaison with the onsite physical therapist and temporary staffing agency to ensure regulatory compliance with Worker's Compensation

What you will do...

  • Assists in regulatory compliance with OSHA, DOT and other regulatory agencies/ departments to achieve company safety objectives.
  • Provide technical EH&S support and information to plant personnel to promote safe behaviors and ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Assists facility with maintaining current, consistent Health and Safety programs and policies.
  • Assists/coordinates safety training and awareness activities with multiple facilities to ensure effective training, proper documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Maintains safety training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT and other regulatory agencies. Provides guidance and information to supervision and management regarding safety training requirements and compliance as they relate to employee health and safety.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assure hazard control, risk reduction and safety behaviors.
  • Assists with maintaining accurate OSHA 300 logs and generating all injury/ illness metrics as required.
  • Continuously evaluates incident and injury trends, both within the company as well as the industry. Use this information to update safety and training programs to ensure their highest effectiveness and relevance.
  • Assists corporate claims staff with investigation and follow-up of injuries and incidents as needed.
  • Acts as a Company representative to regulatory agencies, insurance auditors, Contractors and Sales representatives.
  • Acts as a member of the plant Safety Steering Committee and support the plant Safety Committees.
  • Participate in new product/process reviews and engineering projects for new equipment installations to ensure safety compliance and appropriate training in place.
  • Understand Federal and State EH&S regulations and monitor regulatory changes (through Federal Register, etc.) as they occur. Lead regulatory mandated programs such as but not limited to: respiratory protection, bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation and OSHA recordkeeping/AON.
  • Periodically audit practices and records of manufacturing plant to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Ability to effectively deal with other people, especially other company personnel, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.
  • Requires ability to perform detailed analyses of accidents/injuries/near misses to determine root cause, recommend appropriate corrective action, and assess effectiveness of the facility's response.
  • Perform risk assessments and lead initiatives to reduce identified risks in plant focusing on areas such as Machine Guarding/Lockout; Ergonomics; Slip, Trip and Falls, /Confined Spaces, etc.
  • Prepares monthly reports based on deadlines.
  • Prepares materials for various meetings and training sessions.
  • May perform other duties as required.

What you bring to the table... (Must Have)

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of safety/environmental related experience

It would be great to have... (Nice to Have)

  • Associate degree in a safety science / engineering / industrial hygiene discipline preferred
  • 2+ years of wastewater sampling. Preferably in a food manufacturing environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; must be a skilled communicator and interact effectively with all levels of employees - from corporate management to hourly production workers
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Results oriented with strong attention to detail

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$71,400-$102,700

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
