Position Title: Cafe Supervisor

Reports To: General Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF JOB SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Cafe/1844 Lunch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Cafe at The Stella staffing, scheduling, inventory and service execution delivery of all food and beverage offered via Cafe. Also responsible for event staging and planning within the Cafe to generate additional revenues.

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the General Manager, retains relationships with peers and all other departments within the hotel, maintains relationships with current and prospective clients and guests, and maintains relationships with suppliers, vendors, and others serving the Company or the property.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This is a front-line full-time position. Cafe shift coverage for 5 shifts weekly will be required.

  • Welcoming and providing personalized service to all guests.

  • Must be aware of menu items and beverage choices.

  • Prepare and consistently maintain dining area and supplies in a guest ready atmosphere.

  • Ensure display case cafe items are continually replenished and presented in an appealing manner.

  • Wiping up spills and maintaining cleanliness of all appliances and counter space throughout the cafe.

  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.

  • Able to work with point of sale software (POSitouch).

  • Locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist. Responsible for taking inventory of food, beverages and supplies each day.

  • Knowledgeable about the entire property, services, hours of operation, locations, and nearby places of interest, etc.

  • Close out shift by cleaning and restocking supplies for next day or shift.

  • Solve guest issues with professionalism and always maintain hospitable attitude.

  • Monitor cafe labor costs.

  • Achieve maximum profitability and over-all success by controlling costs and quality of service.

  • Completion of weekly cafe schedules. Schedule staff as necessary to ensure adequate and consistent levels of service.

  • Following of proper purchasing and requisitioning procedures.

  • Attendance and participation of weekly F & B meeting.

  • Development and maintenance of all department control procedures, checklists, etc.

  • Schedule staff as necessary to ensure adequate and consistent levels of service.

  • Also responsible for event staging and planning within the Cafe to generate additional revenues (e.g. Breakfast w/Santa; Acoustic Music Night; Poetry Night; etc.).

  • Provide staff training and development, coach staff for appropriate attitude and appearance.

  • Teamwork/Relations with co-workers and management.

  • Performance management of staff under supervision, including performance reviews, corrective actions, etc.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to five years of experience in hotel management, banquet supervision, or similar experience required.

  • Experience with hotel management software and point of sale software.
