Summary

Reporting to the Designated Supervisor or Lead, the Polisher Class A is responsible for the integrity of his/her own work ensuring compliance with all safety, production, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Operate polishing and buffing equipment to consistently obtain desired finish and quality standards on manufactured metal parts.
  2. Select wheels, abrasives, and equipment best suited for type of job.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency using Pneumatic and/or electric handheld polishing equipment
  4. Apply and manipulate wheels, dressings, and abrasives exercising proper pressure and duration to polish, grind welds, and buff using care to maintain contours, radii, close dimensions, and relative shape.
  5. Polish all stock parts and specials in all materials.
  6. Help train, develop, and coach employees.
  7. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
  8. Maintain appropriate housekeeping and safety standards within the department and plant.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. Level of education usually acquired through completion of high school or GED.
  2. Prior computer data entry experience preferred.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency using Pneumatic and/or Electric handheld polishing equipment


Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal and written instructions and use basic math.
  2. Must have good working knowledge of the computer and Data Collection.
  3. Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
  4. Thorough knowledge of polishing and buffing processes is required.
  5. Ability to operate a forklift.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, climb ladders, balance and move about the facility. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. The Polisher A must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 70 pounds on an occasional basis.
