Toolmaker - 1st shift

Hours: 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday
Pay: $40-43/hour based on experience
The Toolmaker is responsible for the activities required to support Toolmaking operations. This would include all tooling related operations needed to construct, fit, troubleshoot, assemble or repair new or existing injection molds.
Below are additional duties and responsibilities:
  • Read engineering drawings and use necessary measuring devices to produce or modify existing tooling, new tools, or old tools.
  • Repair or request replacement parts, tooling or hardware as needed in order to maintain inventory of tooling.
  • Serve as a good role model to employees for safe work practices and behavior by conducting yourself professionally, keeping in mind your own safety and the safety of others.
  • Set-up and operate all Toolroom machines.
  • Set-up and operate all hand-tool equipment along with manual tool machines.
  • Coordinate with specialty machining areas for specific operations or needs.
  • Understand and perform quality standards, methods, usage of inspection devices, and reporting as required.
  • Provide input to Design/Program Management departments while at preliminary review.
  • Coordinate the ordering of proper materials with Design department.
  • Assemble final tool according to engineering drawings, customer's expectations and MGS quality standards.
  • Assist in first sample and offer suggestions to ready tool for production.
  • Possibly work with and train apprentices, offer aid to their progression.
  • Troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of tools and hot systems.
A qualified Toolmaker candidate would fulfill these requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited two-year technical college program, in a related field of study, a four-year university program, in a related field of study, or accrued on-the-job training and experience (5-10 years).
  • Plastic injection mold tooling/Toolmaking experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional time management, communication, and organizational skills
  • General knowledge of best machining practices
