Position Summary

The Service Technician, OR1 supports the performance and reliability of KARL STORZ operating room integration solutions. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for complex AV, video imaging, and network-based systems in surgical environments, supporting system maintenance, troubleshooting, and new installations while delivering exceptional customer experience.

Salary Range:

$70-80k CAD + Auto Allowance: $9k CAD

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for high-complexity OR integration systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and system modifications on AV, video imaging, and IP/network-based systems.
  • Support new OR integration and video imaging installations.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the KARL STORZ OR1 product portfolio, including HW/SW configuration and system operations.
  • Manage customer-sensitive technical escalations and operate independently in complex environments.
  • Identify system improvement opportunities and recommend updates to service and installation documentation.
  • Complete required technical training and partner with Sales and OR1 Engineering teams to support product promotion.
  • Represent KARL STORZ professionally and uphold company values at all times.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Engineering or Biomedical Technology preferred.
  • 3+ years of technical service, customer service, or direct sales experience.
  • Bilingual French is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with surgical video imaging and OR integration technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% across the U.S. and Canada; must meet hospital credentialing requirements.
  • Highly self-motivated, adaptable, and effective in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented with high integrity and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
