The Senior Umbilical Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership, design, specification, and delivery of subsea umbilical systems for offshore EPC projects. This role ensures that umbilical design, manufacturing, testing, and installation are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project, client, and regulatory requirements. The position serves as the subject matter expert for umbilical systems across the full project lifecycle - from concept and FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
As part of the PMC supporting the RIL PMT, focus will be as the umbilical installation lead during engineering and planning phases.

Technical Leadership

  • Act as the technical authority for subsea umbilical systems within the project and wider engineering team.
  • Lead the design and engineering of static and dynamic umbilicals, including electro-hydraulic, fiber optic, and chemical injection functions.
  • Develop and review umbilical system specifications, datasheets, and design philosophies.
  • Attend Client, EPIC contractors and OSS umbilical and UTH supplier meetings.
  • Comment and review the EPIC contractors technical and procedural documentation, as well as identifying potential technical and commercial risks associated with umbilical tensioner / vertial lay system (VLS) recently procured by EPIC contractor.
  • Relocate to India to perform daily management of the installation vessels during in-country execution of the work scope in India, attend daily interface meeting with the Client.

Engineering & Design

Perform and review:

  • Umbilical sizing and configuration
  • Cross-section design reviews
  • Fatigue and mechanical performance assessments
  • Installation load cases and overboarding analyses
  • Thermal, hydraulic, and electrical performance evaluations
  • Interface with suppliers on detailed design, materials selection, and qualification requirements.Review and approve vendor documentation, drawings, and calculations.

Project Execution

  • Support FEED, tendering, and execution phases with technical input, cost drivers, and risk identification.
  • Coordinate with SURF, flow assurance, controls, installation, and structural disciplines to ensure integrated system design.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, FAT/SIT, loadout, installation, and offshore operations.
  • Manage technical queries, deviations, and change control related to umbilical scope.

Experience Requirements

  • Typically 10+ years of subsea engineering experience within offshore EPC, operator, or umbilical supplier organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in design and delivery of subsea umbilical systems for deepwater and/or harsh environments.
  • Proven involvement across FEED and detailed engineering phases.
  • Experience working with major umbilical manufacturers and installation contractors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, Ocean, or related Engineering discipline.Moving forward together
