Technical Business Analyst

Summary

The Technical Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions within a complex healthcare environment. This role partners with clinical, operational, and technology stakeholders to analyze requirements, improve workflows, support system implementations, and ensure solutions align with regulatory standards and organizational goals. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical expertise with a deep understanding of healthcare processes, data, and systems.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to understand business needs, current workflows, and challenges.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria for internal development team and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization.
  • Document as-is and to-be processes using standard BA methodologies
  • Work with technical teams to design and validate solutions that meet both business and regulatory requirements.
  • Support configuration, integration, and testing activities for healthcare systems (EHRs, CRMs, data platforms, ERPs, etc.).
  • Perform data analysis-including profiling, validation, and mapping-using SQL or analytics tools.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues by analyzing logs, workflows, and system behavior.
  • Participate in or lead/own portions of system implementations, enhancements, and upgrade projects.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and execute UAT with business stakeholders for both user and system.
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and project timelines.
  • Act as a liaison between business users, technical teams, vendors, and leadership.
  • Communicate requirements, risks, and solution designs clearly and effectively.
  • Provide training, documentation, and support to end-users as needed.
  • Ensure systems and workflow designs comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, CMS requirements, and organizational security policies.
  • Participate in audits, data governance initiatives, and compliance reviews.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience working with healthcare systems (clinical, payer/provider systems, revenue cycle solutions).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows (clinical, billing, operations, or population health).
  • Ability to write SQL queries and perform data validation.
  • Excellent documentation skills and experience with Agile or other project management methodologies.
