Job Summary

Church & Dwight is seeking a Director, Global New Product Innovation to lead innovation for GNPI for Pet products, with the goal of driving SBU growth through new product launches. This role oversees alignment of strategic and tactical operations and the development of a Brand Manager.

About the Role

The Director, Global New Product Innovation reports to the VP Global New Products Innovation and works closely with R&D and SBU VPs and Directors.

Work Environment

Hybrid: The role will be based in Ewing, NJ and requires in-person attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new product opportunities, including:
  • Strategic analysis to determine where to play, right to win, and how to play
  • Initiation of consumer research to define unmet consumer needs
  • Create multi-year new product pipelines, working closely with R&D and SBU Leaders
  • Define and articulate differentiated consumer propositions, followed by execution with excellence through packaging and communication
  • Validation of size of opportunity
  • Consumer validation and financial viability of new product ideas
  • Track and identify competitive threats along with being nimble in creatively defending our strong consumer franchises
  • New product development, working with cross functional team, including Brand, R&D, and CSP/Sales
  • Develop innovation strategies aligned with SBUs long-term business strategies for sustained top and bottom-line growth
  • Modify innovation strategy readily as customers, consumers or competitors change
  • Anticipate market conditions, track consumption data and monitor trends through social listening while adjusting strategies accordingly
  • Inspire teams to deliver on initiatives in support of brand strategy
  • Gain organizational support and senior level buy-in for new product initiatives
  • Creatively interpret data and markets to identify new opportunities and solutions that have significant impact on the business
  • Build a high functioning team across functions
  • Change agent to drive new ways of working and speed throughout the NPD process
  • Comfortable and effective working with high level peer set (VPs and Directors), strong strategic skills, PLUS ability to lead cross-functional teams in project execution
  • Generalist exceling in a variety of areas with the ability to ask the right questions to deeply understand consumer wants/needs
  • Strong marketing, financial, and general management skills
  • Contextual communicator who can collaboratively identify opportunity areas and problems worth solving
  • Strong business acumen with the capability of defining a strategy aligning with business value
  • Agile thinker expertly interfacing between the business and new markets
  • Experience and expertise in presenting externally, especially to retailers
Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 12+ years total marketing business experience (CPG, OTC)

  • Well-developed expertise across all areas of marketing and leading/developing talent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

  • Proven experience in pet product innovation or marketing, with hands-on exposure to categories such as cat litter, pet care, or related consumer pet products.

Compensation and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$247,700.

U.S. employees are entitled to paid holidays, floating holidays, and vacation days starting in their first year of employment depending on hire date. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
