Overview

Our growing company is seeking to hire a Quality Engineer. This position is located in Byron Center, MI.

Supports the development and implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that products meet established standards of quality, reliability, and performance. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues, conducting inspections and tests, and maintaining documentation.



Responsibilities

A role like this comes with some important responsibilities, some of those responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    Directly supervises assigned hourly quality personnel on all production shifts. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MEC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, and hiring employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing employee issues, and upholding safety and quality guidelines.
  • Responsible & accountable for plant level quality support. Facilitates disposition of product on hold assuring quality and cost effectiveness; Coordinates containment and facilitates corrective activities for internal issues; Oversees Mig weld macro testing; Ensures process and quality standards are defined for manufacturing floor; Ensures quality equipment calibration.
  • Supports customer concern activities including internal containment, interim action, problem solving & countermeasures and verification of permanent actions taken (including periodic audit).
  • Responsible for supplier quality. Coordinates supplier corrective actions, suspect material disposition/sorts and chargebacks.
  • Manages internal product and process audits. Reviews and recommends solutions to concerns identified or changes in procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities for continual improvement to existing quality or production standards in order to achieve optimum quality within limits of current technology. Proposes/implements changes as approved.
  • Leads and/or supports quality orientation for new hires
  • Ensures acceptable housekeeping throughout department


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
