DSO Product Owner (Levels 1-3)

Digital Strategy Office - Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS)

The DSO Product Owner serves as the ambassador and primary point of accountability for a defined product or program within Duke Health. This role partners closely with clinical, operational, and technology teams to ensure strong product/program performance, adoption, and alignment with organizational goals. Product Owners combine analytical skills with ownership responsibilities-driving clarity, prioritization, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities (All Levels)

* Represent and communicate the value, status, and roadmap of assigned product(s) across DUHS.

* Maintain and prioritize product backlog and issue logs, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with DSO and DUHS goals.

* Coordinate with vendors and internal teams; manage SLAs, contract requirements, testing, and implementation.

* Provide clear, concise written and verbal communication and distill stakeholder needs into actionable components.

* Monitor success metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements to enhance program effectiveness and value.

* Maintain product documentation, change management plans, communication plans, and readiness planning.

* Other duties as assigned.

Level 1

* Manage tasks independently, maintain strong attention to detail, and demonstrate solid time management.

* Understand product/program, express value clearly, and manage timely communications with internal and external stakeholders.

Level 2

* Communicate complex technical information to varied audiences.

* Act proactively, develop solutions, and analyze program effectiveness.

* Collaborate with partners across Duke, support budgeting, reporting, and program planning.

Level 3

* Lead advanced change-management strategy and execution.

* Create and deliver strategic briefings to leadership and systemwide stakeholders.

* Demonstrate fluency in ROI/ROH and product value realization.

Required Qualifications

Education

* Bachelor's degree in a related field OR four years of equivalent technical experience.

Licensure/Certification

* Epic Certification preferred.

* Product Owner or Project Management certifications are beneficial.

Experience

* Experience with Epic Hello World, Epic Cheers, or third-party communication tools highly desired.

* Level 1: No experience beyond minimum requirements.

* Level 2: Two years related experience.

* Level 3: Four years related experience.
