The Development, Marketing, and Social Services Assistant will assist the Director of Development and Marketing Communications with events and communications. Recruits, schedules, organizes and directs volunteers for the Red Kettle Christmas Campaign. About the role:
- Assist the Director of Development and Marketing Communications:
- Provide administrative, scheduling, and logistics support to the Director (calendars, correspondence, printing/vendors, tracking tools).
- Prepare and organize sponsorship packets, donor letters, event documents, contracts, and files (digital and paper).
- Support public presentations by preparing materials, scheduling, and follow-up tasks.
- Support social media and communications (content gathering, scheduling/posting as directed, basic engagement responses).
- Support updates to website content and coordinate changes with Director/divisional resources as needed.
- Organize fundraising events and other promotional projects through administrative support, communication, scheduling volunteers, graphic design, and logistics planning.
- Executing special events with Staff and Advisory Board, including supervising volunteers.
- Assist with a yearly marketing plan for all Salvation Army programs and events.
- Provide assistance to the Social Services Department:
- Support inventory & in-kind donations tracking and distribution of event preparation in coordination with Social Services/program staff.
- Support Social Services Administrative & Communications for scheduling, grants, printed materials, program packets/forms, and non-confidential tracking (attendance, outreach counts, inventory logs).
- Support event planning and execution for special events & community engagement: timelines, checklists, registration, vendors, logistics, volunteer staffing, and day-of coordination.
- Support Front Desk coverage as needed.
- Red Kettle Christmas Campaign Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a volunteer recruiting system that engages media, social media, and community partners for in-person presentations.
- Solicit and confirm the Christmas Kettle Campaign sites. Work with the Divisional Development Department to track National Kettle Agreements.
- Assist potential volunteers with signup on Salvation Army online platform. Conduct orientation and supervision of volunteers both seasonally and year-round.
- Maintain and analyze monthly statistical records for trends and future planning.
- Coordinate kettle pickups with drivers; money sorting and counting with staff and volunteers, and drop-off to Banks according to Finance regulations.
- Records all kettle slips within 24-hour period for real-time reporting.
- Maintains all forms and documents related to volunteers and special events/projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development or Corps Officers.
Education:
- Minimum high school diploma
- Post-high school continuing education preferred.
Experience:
- Previous work in a comparable field preferred.
Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance provider. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
