Job Summary The Groundskeeper performs a full range of grounds maintenance and gardening duties; assists in various related construction and landscaping projects; and prepares other special venues according to the user's request or published specifications Essential Functions 30%- Mows lawns, trims, prunes trees, fertilizes, maintains irrigation systems, waters, sweeps walkways and building entry ways 25%- Performs herbicide and pesticide applications, digs trenches, cultivates, plants and transplants, spreads mulch, rakes leaves/debris 20%- Operates various grounds equipment such as tractors, mowers, edger's, trimmers, spreaders, aerators, top dressers, etc. 25%- Moves equipment and outdoor fixtures; operates parking lot sweepers and dump truck; empties trash receptacles; ensures safe working conditions Minimum Qualifications Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described. Desired Qualifications A. Experience working grounds maintenance in a college or large property(20 acres or more) B. Experience with procedures related to irrigation systems C. Experience overseeding and fertilizing turf D. Commercial applicator license for applying pesticides in non-agricultural settings E. Experience using heavy equipment such as tractors and mowers F. Experience working on gardening beds and/or planting trees G. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years Special Working Conditions
