Description

*Manage the engineer's performance through expectation and goal setting, coaching, counseling, feedback, development activities, and disciplinary actions.
* Delegate Engineering responsibilities to the Production Process Engineers (including self).
* Responsible for the development of the Production Process Engineers technically and professionally through Individual Development Plans (IDP). Ensure the engineers are trained for their assigned work.
* Provide process training and process safety training to new Engineers and Managers.
* Issues monthly progress reports to the Production Manager.
* Responsible for maintaining specific operational standards and process safety standards.
* Ensure the Engineers maintain excellence in the following aspects of process safety management - process hazard analysis (PHA), pre-startup safety review (PSSR), management of change (MOC), incident investigation, and process safety information (PSI).
* Ensure the Production process complies with environmental requirements per site and environmental agency standards. For example, environmental calculations, LOPC investigations, and Title V reports.
* Ensure the Engineers implement short- and long-term solutions to improve OEE and capacity. Use tools and methods such as RCAs to enhance problem-solving efficiency and effectiveness.
* Leads the Production department's capital project planning and prioritization. Ensure the project scope is defined before requesting Project Engineering resources.
* Ensure the Engineers support plant trials.
* Assist the Controls Engineer in managing the DCS MOC tracking system.
* Regularly interact with technical staff in other Kaneka sites globally to cross-pollinate best engineering practices between all Kaneka sites.
* Ensure all work by Production Process Engineers is documented and organized for future reference.
* Lead meetings and audits periodically to ensure expectations are met.
* Support the Production Manager during the budget planning process.
* Perform weekend on-call duty coverage as needed.
* Lead cross-functional/site teams as needed.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Chemical Engineering (required)
Experience
3 years: Management or supervisory experience of a chemical or nutraceutical
manufacturing unit (required)
8 years: Production or engineering role that includes process design and unit
assignments within a PSM-governed chemical processing facility. (required)
