The Role
General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is embarking on a digital enterprise initiative to redesign its business processes using a digital first mentality. We are seeking a Program Director to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of the digital enterprise initiative. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of digital solutions, and extensive experience in redesigning business processes. The Program Director will work closely with senior executives, cross-functional teams, and external partners to ensure the successful implementation of digital solutions that align with our business objectives.

The Program Director of the Digital Enterprise initiative will report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role will have 5-10 full-time employees directly reporting to the Director, in addition to overseeing up to 100 individuals who will informally report to the Program.

Key Job Elements and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
  • Lead and manage the Digital Enterprise program, ensuring alignment with organizational strategic goals.
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for Digital Enterprise initiatives.
  • Challenge the status-quo to redesign business processes that leverage digital technologies.
  • Act as a thought leader, staying informed about emerging technologies and trends to guide the organization's digital efforts.
  • Oversee multiple projects within the program, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Establish program governance, including defining roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes for the initiative.
  • Monitor and manage program risks, dependencies, and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Engage and collaborate with senior executives, department leaders, and key stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for Digital Enterprise initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all Digital Enterprise-related activities.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of project managers, business subject matter experts, IT specialists, and other key roles.


Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant technical degree. (MBA/MS a plus)
  • Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated relevant experience in Information Technology Management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role leading Information Technology successfully delivering large-scale transformational programs.
  • Proven experience planning large, multi-year initiatives.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise processes and functional interdependencies.
  • Ability to develop a strong reputation among stakeholders to instill trust from the organization.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Understanding of digital technologies and their respective benefits.
  • Will need to have exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and ability to make autonomous decisions.
  • Will need to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Has the ability to travel up to 20% when required
  • Familiarity and experience working within sensitive and or classified program environments desired

    Additional Information

    • This position may require occasional travel to various global locations.
    • This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance).
