Are you ready to make a difference this summer? We're looking for passionate, energetic, and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors for our exciting 10-week Day Camp!

As a counselor, you'll have the opportunity to work with kids, lead fun activities, and create lasting memories. Whether you're an experienced leader or looking to gain valuable skills, we want YOU to be part of our summer team.

Our Summer Day Camp is June 1st-August 7th. Staff Orientation is May 26th-29th.

We are now hiring for full time Camp Counselors and Assistant Camp Counselors, a part-time Summer Day Camp Attendant, and a full-time Assistant Camp Director.

Job Summary/Primary Purpose: Responsible for the direct supervision of children in Summer Day Camp and KidZone with emphasis on safety and healthy activities to ensure a quality experience during the child's visit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assist in creative development and participate in execution of programming as well as community programs sponsored by the Kroc Center.
  • Assist Day Camp Lead Counselor with activities and lessons.
  • Assist Day Camp Lead Counselor with behavioral needs.
  • Report any important information regarding campers enrolled in Summer Day Camp to the Camps and Education Manager.
  • Provide excellent customer service for parents and relate positively to young children.
  • Maintain cleanliness of KidZone and other areas of the Kroc Center by cleaning equipment, toys, play areas, and restrooms.
  • Follow each step of the check-in/check-out procedures for all children.
  • Inform supervisor if a child has been left for more than two hours in Kid Zone.
  • Ensure the safe use of the facility by enforcement of facility regulations.
  • Assist with emergencies or accidents appropriately and complete incident reports as needed.
  • Report any suspicion of child abuse to the appropriate coordinator or manager.
  • Interact professionally with the public, business community, Salvation Army Officers, and Kroc Center staff.
  • Ensure KidZone is stocked with appropriate brochures and forms.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred and experience working with youth 1 - 8 years old.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



  • Good communication skills including interpersonal skills.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • Strong independent judgement.
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.


Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.
