Position Overview

In this position, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for working with senior management and will significantly contribute to developing and leading the accounting team. Daily operations include maintaining the general ledger system, preparing and reviewing the appropriate entries, and reconciling. This individual must be able to work in a multi-tasking environment and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for month-end close, including journal entry review and posting, account reconciliations, and financial review
  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation. Creates and administers policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Attract, retain, and develop accounting staff; Manage the daily activity of the accounting team
  • Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets; ensures the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations;
  • Assists with auditors at year-end, including preparing schedules and providing supporting documents
  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
  • Support the Assistant Controller in engaging the audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery
  • Partner with other groups within Finance & Administration to provide thorough financial support
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Administration
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in progressive accounting roles, including supervisory and management experience
  • Working knowledge of principles of accounting and financial management
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated writing skills to compose logical, comprehensive, and grammatically correct correspondence, procedures, and reports
  • Must be highly proficient in MS Excel
  • Skill in PC, Excel, Word, Outlook, and other computer software products

Directly supervises a team of 2-3

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, keyboard reach, stoop and kneel. Light to moderate lifting is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

No travel is expected for this position

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position and eligible for a flex day after 90 days. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, and range from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
