Facilities Maintenance Support Technician

Overall Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Support Technician supports the maintenance team by performing handson maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and facility systems. This role supports two manufacturing buildings located across the street from each other and works closely with other maintenance team members to complete daily tasks and preventative maintenance activities. The person in this role should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, painting, janitorial work, and general facility maintenance.
  • Maintain and service mechanical and building systems, including HVAC/heat pumps, filtration systems, lighting, cooling towers, and chemical water treatment.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on facility components such as flooring, roofing, locks, door hardware, and security systems.
  • Maintain exterior areas, including lawn care and snow removal.
  • Install, move, and remove company equipment, furniture, and fixtures between buildings.
  • Support and coordinate with outside contractors as needed.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and supplies required for facility maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support facility and business needs.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:


  • Ability to read and write basic English.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple work requests.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of facilities or maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, property management, hotel, or apartment environment.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, filtration, lighting, flooring, locks and door hardware, roofing, cooling towers, chemical water treatment, lawn care, and snow removal preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, OEM instructions, and specifications a plus.
  • HVAC certification and/or boiler license preferred but not required.
  • Previous safety training or participation on a safety team a plus.

Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to work Monday through Friday on 1st shift; ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to work in outdoor climates as required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Sensory requirements include vision, hearing, and touch.
  • Upper extremity motion requirements include fine motor movements, pushing/pulling, grasping, and pinching.

Salary:
The starting hourly range for this position is $24-$27/hr.

At IWCO, base pay is determined by job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience, along with factors such as role scope and location.
