Overview
Are you passionate about building production grade data and software systems, including AI backed services, that operate at cloud scale and uphold the highest standards of reliability, security, and compliance? The Azure Core Fundamentals team is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and implement scalable data pipelines, data services, and AI-enabled product features that help make Azure the world's most trusted cloud platform. In this role, you'll work end to end - from architecture and design, through implementation and deployment - building solutions where performance, resiliency, and operational excellence are critical. Your work will integrate data access, data pipelines, experimentation, telemetry, and automation to ensure systems remain reliable and compliant in production. You will contribute to the deployment and operation of data driven and model assisted features, supporting safe rollout, monitoring, and iteration using flighting, experimentation, and rollback mechanisms. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product partners, and domain experts to translate complex requirements into secure, cloud ready data and software solutions, while applying best practices for testing, diagnostics, privacy, and least access security. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy owning data and service infrastructure in production, solving complex systems problems, and continuously improving reliability and supportability at scale. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and want to have a measurable impact on Azure's core engineering foundations, we'd love to hear from you. Hybrid and fully remote options are available. Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. Responsibilities
