Overview

The Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization is seeking a Business Manager to support the CDS Executive Organization. This role sits at the center of a rapidly scaling, global datacenter infrastructure team that enables the full spectrum of Microsoft products and services.

This is a highly visible role for a strategic business manager who thrives at the intersection of executive rhythm of business (ROB), operational excellence, automation, and change management. The ideal candidate brings strong business judgment, a passion for building scalable processes, and the ability to translate complexity into clarity for senior leaders.

You will partner closely with the CDS Chief of Staff and the leadership team to drive planning, execution, and accountability-while continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, streamlined workflows, and datadriven insights.

Responsibilities

Executive Rhythm of Business & Strategic Planning

  • Partner with CDS executives todesign, run, and continuously improve the organization's Rhythm of Business (ROB), including business reviews, planning cadences, OKR management, and leadership forums

  • Lead coordination forannual and multiyear planning, ensuring alignment with corporate planning processes and integration across the broader organization

  • Manage executive preparation for key business moments, including fiscal planning, operating reviews, and strategic readouts

Operational Excellence, Automation & Change Management

  • Identifyand driveoperational efficienciesthrough automation, simplification, and scalable process design (e.g., Excel, Power Automate, reporting workflows)and/or work with Engineering teams todevelop requirements and manage project outputs

  • Lead and supportcrossfunctionalinitiativesthat improve how the organization plans, executes, and measures outcomes

  • Apply structuredchange managementapproaches to ensure adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working

Business Management, Finance & Headcount

  • Partner with finance and HR counterparts to supportfinancial planning, headcount management, and resource tracking

  • Analyze trends and risks across budget, headcount, and operational data to inform leadershipdecisionmaking

  • Develop andmaintainbusiness management reports, scorecards, and metricsthat surface insights and drive accountability

Communications, Content & Storytelling

  • Drive the development ofclear, compellingexecutivelevelcontentfor internal and external audiences

  • Translate complex strategies, results, and data intoconcise narratives and actionable insightstailored to the audience

  • Partner with communications teams to land messages effectively across leadership forums, employee communications, and external engagements

Culture, Accountability & Organizational Health

  • Monitor organizational health and partner with leaders tostrengthen team culture, engagement, and effectiveness

  • Help create clarity in ambiguous situations by aligning priorities, KPIs, and execution plans

  • Promote accountability by simplifying priorities and reinforcing progress against goals



Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Finance) AND 4+ years experience in financial management, business planning, strategy, data analysis and reporting, project management, or process improvement working directly with executive level leaders within a global organization OR equivalent experience

Other requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Finance) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, strategy, data analysis and reporting, project management, or process improvement OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Finance) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, strategy,data analysis and reporting,project management,or process improvement OR equivalent experience.
  • 2-4years experienceindeveloping and presenting data analysis and reportingrelated to business performance, finances, or headcount.

  • 2-4 years experience in working directly with executive level leaders within a global organization.
  • Global program orchestration skills and demonstrated experience working with global teams across multiple regions and time zones

  • Experience workingwith cross-functional partners, including Finance, Procurement, andEngineering teams

  • AdvancedproficiencyinMicrosoft Exceland experience usingPower Automateto drive automation and operational efficiency

  • Experience with financial analysis, headcount management, and business reporting

  • Background inchange management, process improvement, or operational transformation

  • Ability to synthesize data,identifypatterns, and translate insights into action

Business Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
