Continuation past the termlengthdiscussed willbebasedonuniversityneed,performance,and/oravailabilityoffunding.POSITION SPECIFICS A Researcher position in the laboratory of Dr. Michael D. Dennis within the Department of Cell and Biological Systems at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is immediately available. The overall goal of the Dennis Laboratory is to identify the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways that contribute to diabetic complications. The search is open to applicants in many areas of research including, but not limited to, those studying regulation of the master kinase mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), the impact of post-translational modification (i.e., phosphorylation and O-GlcNAcylation) of eukaryotic translation initiation factors (eIFs) in mediating changes in mRNA translation, and redox signaling and mitochondrial dysfunction. Results from this research project are expected to identify new targets for intervention and thus lead to the development of innovative therapies that address diabetic complications, including diabetic retinopathy. Candidates should be highly motivated and capable of designing hypothesis-based experiments, executing studies, and preparing manuscripts. Requires a PhD in Biochemistry or related field; significant experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, and mouse genetic approaches is desired.
