The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is hiring for a Behavioral Health Specialist II (BHSII) in our Supportive Community Residential Services Division.

As a Behavioral Health Specialist II, you'll be a part of a team of diverse professionals provide case management, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling. Completes Medicaid and other billing documentation, manages a caseload which includes adults with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring disorders (including substance use and intellectual disabilities), provides clinical assessments, and performs treatment planning and community integration activities. The work schedule is between 9am-5:30pm and this position requires some evening availability based on client's needs. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The position is located at the Gartlan Center, Alexandria, VA.

  • In addition, to recognize and reinforce the importance of professional development and enhance future recruitment of licensed professionals, if approved, the licensure supervisors will receive a stipend of $1,500 paid out biweekly over a 12-month period whether for one or more Department of Health licensure candidates.
  • License/Certification Reimbursement - Reimbursement for job related licenses and/or certifications once per year.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling, or a related field, plus 1,500 hours of clinical experience;
OR a bachelor's degree and a valid Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) certification or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) certification plus 1,500 hours of clinical experience;
OR a master's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling, or a related field plus 500 hours of clinical experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Valid motor vehicle driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or the equivalent in another State) maintained throughout employment with CSB;
  • MANDT Certifications within 90 days of appointment and annually thereafter;
  • First Aid and CPR certification, within 90 days of appointment and maintained throughout CSB employment;
  • Medication Administration Assistance Certification within 90 days of appointment;
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) (within 1 month of hire).

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving records check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire. Licensed providers may not "opt out" of being a Medicare provider.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders in the community.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) certification.
  • Licensed or registered in Virginia with the appropriate Board in one of the following roles:
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker,
    • Licensed Professional Counselor,
    • Licensed Clinical Psychologist,
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist,
    • Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, or
    • Licensed Nurse Practitioner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to independently drives vehicles; climb stairs, walk, and stand and bend as needed to carry out job duties; lift and carry up to 25 lbs; observe client behavior/appearance; and review and write progress notes in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and staff travel log. Ability to quickly respond to a crisis, physically support clients, walk stairs, lift light to moderate loads, work directly with clients teaching housekeeping, cooking and shopping skills. Ability to independently travel to various sites, transport and observe clients. Ability to use keyboard driven equipment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
